Our commitment to the environment

The Purist Company is committed to reducing the carbon footprint in the production of its products and in the day-to-day running of the business. We make every effort to minimise waste, avoid excess packaging and utilise recyclable containers.

Our thoughts on animal testing

Scientific advances have made animal testing obsolete due to the existing safety data for every ingredient in the market and the numerous alternative irritancy test methods available.

The Purist Company is against animal testing and Akin and Al’chemy natural skincare and natural hair care products are made free from animal ingredients or animal by-products. All products are certified vegan and accredited by Choose Cruelty Free, an independent non-profit organisation which seeks to promote a cruelty free lifestyle.

Our thoughts on Palm Oil

The Purist Company does not use palm oil as an ingredient in its formulations. However, a few of our ingredients are derived from palm oil. Palm oil is a versatile raw material and often manufacturers may use it to produce our ingredients – depending on the pricing and availability. While it may be difficult to determine the origin of these ingredients, The Purist Company has been proactive in ensuring its ingredients are produced from raw materials from sustainable environments.

Over the past 12 months, The Purist Company has been actively lobbying all of its suppliers to provide re-assurance that when palm oil is used in the production process, it is sourced from sustainable environments. Most of our suppliers have expressed their intention to source sustainable palm oil. As members of the Roundtable for Sustainable Palm Oil, they are supporting the process to evaluate and certify palm, which is almost complete.
